Commission Process
1. Initial enquiry
Once you get in touch, we’ll discuss the portrait you have in mind, the medium, size, and any details you’d like included. I’ll also confirm availability and answer any questions.
2. Reference photos
You’ll send a selection of clear photographs of your pet. I’ll help you choose the image that best captures their personality and works well for the chosen medium. For pets who are no longer with us, perfect photos may be impossible, please don’t worry. I can work sensitively from the images you have, and we can discuss options together to find the best approach. Whether that means combining details from several photos or gently refining features, the aim is always to create a portrait that feels true to them.
3. Booking & 40% deposit
When everything is agreed, I’ll confirm the final price and estimated completion time. A 40% deposit is then required to secure your commission and reserve your place in my schedule.
4. Creating the portrait
I begin work on your piece, building the layers and details that bring your pet’s character to life. Each portrait is created with care and attention, reflecting the quiet charm of your companion.
5. Progress update Partway through, I’ll share a brief update so you can see how your portrait is developing. Minor adjustments can be made at this stage if needed.
6. Final approval & balance
Once the portrait is complete, I’ll send a final image for approval. When you’re happy, the remaining balance is paid.
7. Packaging & delivery
Your finished artwork is carefully wrapped and posted to you. All portraits are sent via Royal Mail Tracked and Signed For, ensuring they travel safely and can be followed throughout their journey. Each commission also includes a Certificate of Authenticity, confirming the artwork is an original piece created by hand.
